The National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has disbursed the amount of K17.8 million to World Connect Malawi as one way of helping social development works in various communities across the country.
The development comes with the aim of empowering and improving the livelihood of the girl child in the country.
World Connect will use the funds to empower girls to be more productive and responsible citizens towards their communities.
In her remarks, NBM’s treasury manager Grace Phiri has said that the bank decided to make the donation because it wants to use part of their profits to empower communities to develop themselves.
Meanwhile Board chairperson for World Connects Tamala Chirwa has praised the banks’s donation for supporting the organisation’s philanthropy initiatives and expressed optimism that other institutions would emulate the gesture.
