The Supreme Court of appeal has reserved it’s ruling to a later date in an appeal case where Chinese national Lin Yu Hua is seeking a review of his 14 year sentence.

Hua was sentenced 14 year’s by the Lilongwe Magistrate Court for trafficking wildlife.

He appealed to the Supreme Court to have his case reviewed.

The state is being represented by Lawyer Mathews Chione and Hannah Supply Kamanga.

In an interview today after the court hearing State advocate Kamanga said as the state, they are against the appeal as it came later as the law stipulates.

Lin, alongside his wife and a Malawian national were arrested in August, 2019 and was sentenced in 2021.

Supreme Court Judge Justice Lovemore Chikopa is hearing the case.

According to the court, the ruling will come after hearing all the submissions from both the state and the defense.
