A family of 4 has been admitted at Neno district hospital after consuming food suspected to be poison for several days due to hunger.

According to a 28-year-old Elias Zidana says he had been eating this plant, which he digs as Cassava, for a few days until his 3 year old son started having diarrhea that spread to the whole family.

Neno hospital spokesperson Caroline Banda has said that the couple, which includes a 25-year-old mother, a 7 year-old boy and a 3 year-old child, are now doing well and they will be discharged soon.

Zidana who says he depends on farming, says he is staying at the hospital because he has no food or transportation.
