National Governing Council (NGC) meeting of the opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is currently underway at Golden Peacock Hotel in the capital Lilongwe without the presence of the party President Peter Mutharika.

DPP Secretary General Grezelder Jeffrey called for the meeting last week Friday and she invited 71 delegates to meeting.

Out of the 71 delegates, 23 delegates including former DPP Vice President for Central region Uladi Musa and DPP vice President for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa are present at the meeting.

Among other things, delegates are expected to appoint a committee which will be in charge of preparations for the party’s elective conference.

Meanwhile, delegates have appointed former Minister of Homeland Security Cecilia Chazama to chair the meeting on behalf of Mutharika.
