Police In Machinga district have arrested a 57-year-old man Makwacha Limamu for being found in possession of a live pangolin without permit.

Spokesperson for Machinga police station Western Kansire, has identified he suspect as Makwacha Limamu who was arrested by police  on December 07, 2023, after being tipped  from well-wishers that Limamu was offering for sale a pangolin at the price of K1 million.

Upon receipt of the information, police organized an intelligence-driven exercise which led to the arrest of the suspect at his house where the live pangolin was recovered.

The protected was handed over to African Parks and wildlife officials and the suspect is expected to be taken to court soon to answer the charge leveled against him.
