Fédération International de Football Association (FIFA), President Gianni Infantino has invited the newly elected Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Fleetwood Haiya to Saudi Arabia to officially welcome him to the international football family.
According to FAM’s Competitions Director, Gomezgani Zakazaka, Infantino has invited Haiya to Saudi Arabia and will be accompanied by FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda.
The two will also attend the FIFA World Club Championship and the FIFA football summit and are expected back on Saturday.
On Sunday Infantino sent an official letter congratulating Haiya for following his appointment as FAM president.
Infantino also promised Haiya that FIFA will be providing support to FAM whenever needed.
Haiya was elected as FAM President on 16 December 2023 after defeating Walter Nyamilandu 23-13.
