A disciplinary hearing for some opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials is currently underway in Lilongwe.

The party has summoned former secretary general Grezelder Jeffrey, former vice-president for the Southern Region Kondwani Nankhumwa, former director of women Cecelia Chazama and Zomba Chisi legislator Mark Botomani.

The four are accused of attending and leading a December 6, 2023 national governing council (NGC) meeting which had no authorisation from party president Peter Mutharika.

“Aliyense alowa payekha-payekha kuti adziyankhire yekha. So the first to go in is Botomani, then Chazama will follow, after Chazama, Jeffrey will be called in and Nankhumwa will be called in last,” an official has said.

The party has hired security personnel to secure the venue.
