She expressed this at Masuku, Chiponde and Namwera in Mangochi today, while touring the said lower formations to appreciate and make the officers feel that they are part and parcel of the organization.

Yolamu revealed that the performance of officers around the nation in 2023 was splendid, highlighting that over 40 rifles and various stolen items had been recovered in the just-ended year.

“I’m receiving a lot of compliments from the general public expressing their satisfaction with our work, and I attribute these efforts to you” Yolamu alluded.

She applauded officers for working tirelessly in the just-ended festive season, which has resulted in peaceful celebrations and zero serious crime recorded.

However, Yolamu encouraged the officers to maintain a good relationship with the communities, provide quality services to the public, utilize their roles, continue providing quality services to the citizenry, and also collaborate with neighboring security institutions.

After addressing the officers, Yolamu also inspected the offices and staff houses where she found mobility challenges, lack of houses, and increasing of manpower but was quick to comment on government efforts in constructing new houses and buying of motor vehicles for the officers.

Meanwhile, Eastern Region Commissioner Violet Magwaya, thanked the IG for visiting the places and applauded the police formations for maintaining a good relationship with the communities, which has resulted in reducing some of the high prevalent crimes in the areas.

Mangochi Police Station Officer In-charge, Assistant Commissioner Morgan Dzonzi encouraged the officers to continue working according to the management’s expectations despite the challenges they are facing.
