The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has assured that the girl who traveled from Mwanza, Hendrina Kamenya, to push for her late father’s benefits might receive them before the close of business today.

OPC spokesperson Robert Kalindiza confirmed meeting the family members at the Accountant General’s office, acknowledging that the benefits were already due for payment when she arrived.

President Lazarus Chakwera is concerned about the delays, noting that these benefits are typically meant to be disbursed within a year under normal circumstances.

Dismas Kamenya, the brother of Hendrina, affirmed the meeting and assurance from the OPC, expressing caution after previous unfulfilled promises.

Hendrina’s vigil at the Accountant General’s office aimed to expedite the release of her late father’s benefits.
