Jenda Community Policing Forum (CPF) members in Mzimba on Sunday rescued a 23 year old man from  mob justice  following allegations that he broke into a house.
Public Relations Officer for Jenda Police Station, MacFarlane Mseteka, has identified the mob justice victim as Peter Nyirenda who is believed to have committed the offence during a funeral in the community, in which the suspect presumed the resident, Peter Mark was at the funeral service.
“However he [Mark] was at work and upon his return with his friend, he discovered the break-in,” Mseteka said.
The suspect was found hiding under the bed and an altercation ensued, leading to a call for help. Members of the community joined in, attempting to subdue the suspect.
However, Community Policing Forum members intervened and took the suspect to the police station.
Mseteka commended their actions while urging community members not to take the law into their own hands but to bring suspects to the authorities.
