Police in Mulanje has arrested a  41 year-old primary school teacher for allegedly breaking into the house of a secondary school teacher and stealing assorted items valued at 2. 8 million kwacha.
Spokesperson for Mulanje Police Station Sergeant Innocent Moses has identified the suspect as Square Valamanja who committed the offense in a night of  9th January 2024  at Njedza village in the district.
According to Moses, the suspect had said some of the stolen items are a plasma TV screen, JBL sound bar, Dstv and Gotv decoders, a laptop bag that contained assorted items, five remote controls, three flash discs, and K20,000 in cash.
However, it has been noted that suspect is an ex-convict who was released from one of the prisons in the country after serving his sentence on similar charges.
He sat his MSCE in prison, and upon release he joined the teaching service.
