Brian Banda, aged 24, has been sentenced to two years and five months in prison by court in Ntchisi for impersonating a medical personnel last year.

The government prosecutor on Evance Banda’s case informed the court that the accused, who is mentally challenged, was arrested by police in Mponela on January 8, 2024.

According to Banda, he initially presented himself as a genuine medical personnel at Mponela Hospital, but upon questioning, he failed to provide the correct names of his colleagues, leading to his arrest.

When asked to defend himself, he confessed to the assault.

The court advised the prosecutor, Talakwanji M’ndala, to consider seeking psychiatric evaluation for the accused to determine if he should be given counseling.

Brian Banda hails from Masunda Village in the Phambala area, Ntcheu district.
