The Public Accounts Committee has asked the Anti-Corruption Bureau to furnish the committee with details of the companies under suspicion of being connected to the “Cashgate” looting of public funds that has rocked Joyce Banda’s government.
The ACB is yet to quantify how much has been stolen from the government purse in the “Cashgate” scandal but ACB Director, Justice Mzikamanda has assured Pac of the Bureau’s commitment and assistance in providing the relevant details. So far 81 companies are under investigation and US law experts are due in the country to beef up the prosecution team from the State. 39 suspects have been arrested in connection to Cashgate.
