Police at Jenda in Mzimba have nabbed Maxwell Tembo 36, on suspicion that he broke into a shop belonging to Differt Liyenda and went away with various shop items at Embangweni in the district.

According to Jenda Police Station Spokesperson Macfarlen Mseteka the suspect gained entry into the said shop by drilling a hole through the wall and he stole assorted electronic gadgets valued at 2 million Malawian kwacha.

“Thorough an intelligence driven operation a team of Jenda police detectives arrested Tembo and recovered the following items; seven touch screen cell phones, four key pad cell phones, six Bluetooth batteries, four phone chargers, seven flash disks, 24 memory cards, 13 card readers, 105 phone batteries and many other items’,said Mseteka.

In separate event Jenda police has also arrested a suspected motorcycle thief Geyala Kalemela 35, believed to have stolen a Lifan motorcycle in Dedza and sold it in Mchinji. Geyala arrived at Jenda on February 17, 2024 to hide and was arrested the same night after police were tipped off about his arrival.

Gayela who comes from Gundazuwa village in Dedza will be handed over to Dedza police to answer his charges, while Maxwell Tembo from Takumanapo village in Mzimba, will be taken to court upon completion of paper work.
