Police at Ndirande in Blantyre have arrested four people for allegedly stealing property and money valued at K8.5 million belonging to Central Poultry Company in the Makata Industrial area.

Ndirande police publicist, Sergeant Maxwell Paul Jailos, has identified the suspects as Mussa Idi, aged 32; Chiyembekezo Nkhutabasa, aged 21; Grevazio Nkhutabasa, aged 33; and Abel Ng’onga, aged 26.

Jailos said the incident occurred during the night of February 11–12 this year, when the suspects, armed with panga knives, stormed the company’s premises, attacked a guard and other night shift workers, and tied them with ropes.

Police say the suspects later stole K6.7 million in cash and non-cash items, including four laptops, two desktop computers, three bales of mixed chicken portions, cellphones, and an electric kettle. Police say most of the stolen items have been recovered.
