President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Dr. Jacob Mazalale as Principal Secretary for Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs.
Dr. Mazalale, an economics lecturer at the University of Malawi, will be on secondment to the ministry, joining Secretary to Treasury Dr. Betchani Tcheleni.
The appointment aims to bolster the ministry’s workforce, with Dr. Mazalale expected to bring his expertise to the economic domain.
According to the Office of the President and Cabinet spokesperson Robert Kalindiza, Dr. Mazalale will report for duty at his convenience.
