Malawian veteran journalist Charles Mkula has died this at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre after battling with kidney failure and bowel obstruction.

His young brother Joseph has confirmed the death and said Mkula died yesterday afternoon.

According to the brother, the departed journalist’s remains are expected to be taken to his home at Naisi, Chipande Village, T/A Malemia in Zomba where burial is expected to take place.

Late Mkula, 56, has worked for various media organisations including the defunct The Enquirer Newspaper and at the time of his death he was running his own media company Hyphen Media.

He was also a correspondent for various international online news organisations.
