Police at Namwera in Mangochi have arrested a 36 year old Mozambican man identified as Assan James causing death through reckless driving on Chiponde-Nselema Road in the district.
According to Mangochi Police Station spokesperson, Amina Tepani Daudi James was was driving a Quantum minibus registration number AID 471 MP from Chiponde, and upon arrival at Mlambala village, he hit a motorcyclist heading in the same direction.
Tepani Daudi said “the motorcyclist, Jube Maiko, 57, sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Chiponde Health Center .Mozambicans can be charged with illegal entry, as there are reports that he used uncharted routes to enter Malawi.
Assan James, who is expected to appear before court soon, hails from Mandimba in Mozambique,.
