Former National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) deputy chief executive officer Gerald Viola his accomplice Chrispin Chingola have been handed 2 years jail sentence.

Initially, the two were handed three years suspended sentence last year but they appealed.

The two were accused of misuse of office over the awarding of a K3.3 billion contract.

As the two were coming out of the court to Maula Prison, Chingola attacked an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB ) official.

The victim has been identified as ACB principal investigations officer Robert Mbuzi.

The convict has now been taken to Area 3 police where a statements of assault is being recorded.
