The Malawi National Council of sports has announced that the project to construct a new state-of-art stadium at the BAT ground in Blantyre will commerce this month

This is according to the press statement signed by MNCS public relation officer, Edgar Ntulumbwa, the first phase of the project will start this April, 2024, will first involve in demolishing the old ground and the earthworks.

The stadium will accommodate 17000 people.

In the statement, they indicates that project will cost about k 30 billion, and the stadium will be capable of hosting both local and international events.

The statement further indicates that the second phase will involve construction works, which are set to begin in October 2024 and complete within 24 months.

“The stadium will have the capacity of 17000 people and there will be Gym kiosks, corporate boxes, an office complex and standard running track, the stadium will accommodate both local and international events ‘, reads part of the statement.

Meanwhile, the council added that the designs for the new modern stadium have already been developed and will soon advertise for bids from companies to construct the stadium.

“The stadium will be equipped with an automated gate system to ensure that the safety and convenience of all visitors”, reads part of the statement

The stadium will add beauty to the city of Blantyre and will revolutionize the experience of sporting in Malawi.
