At least three people have died while 1,600 families have been displaced at Ngabu in Chikwawa District following floods that have affected the area.

This has been disclosed by Chikwawa District Commissioner Nardin Kamba yesterday on 14 April 2024 at Ngabu Sports Club when Minister of Water and Sanitation Abida Mia, who is also Member of Parliament for the area, and Department of Disaster Management Affairs distributed food and nonfood items to the affected people.

Mia said people in the area need support as they were also affected by dry spells, with the little they had being washed away by the raging waters.

The affected people are now residing in temporary shelters. The items they have received include maize, beans and plastic sheeting.
