Five people have been arrested for allegedly conducting illegal mining in Traditional Authority Nthando in Ntchisi district.

Salomy Zgambo, Ntchisi Public Relations Officer said the arrest foolows a mini operation which they conducted in the area.

Zgambo further explained that the suspects were found with four shovels, four holes, one pick, and three pails that they were allegedly using for the illegal mining.

She identified the five as Godwell Chaminju 21, Davison Dayisi 35, Aaron Chigaga 35, Gavana Chigaga 28 all from Kachinagwa village in T/A Mwansambo in Nkhotakota and Yeremiya Lyson 37 from Kwendakwina village Traditional Authority Nthondo in Ntchisi district.

Investigations are still underway and that the suspects will appear in court once they finalize all paperwork.
