Information reaching this publication indicates that 45 Malawians who were on labour export in Israel have been arrested for allegedly escaping from farms where they were assigned to work.

The arrest comes barely days after the government of Malawi and Israel sealed a new labour deal which will see unskilled Malawians being sent to Israel.

Leader of Malawian workers in Israel Austin Chipeta has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the suspects escaped and joined a company which into biscuits production in the city.

It is said that the suspects have been arrested by the Immigration Department of Israel for allegedly being found with no proper documents to work into the said company.

The suspects will be taken to court soon.
