The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has announced final official referees who are going to officiate the game between two Blantyre heavyweights football clubs FCB Nyasa Big Bullets versus Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
SULOM has confirmed that Mayamiko Kanjere and Yohane Chiutika will handle the Blantyre Derby.
On Thursday 30 April 2024, SULOM reshuffled the match officiating panel with Easter Zimba and Clement Kanduku replacing the two match officials, but in a twist of events, Sulom has again retracted their decision to change the officiating panel.
This comes after Mighty Mukuru Wanderers penned them a letter saying they suspected match-fixing and the decision to allow FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to interfere with the selection of the referees is against the FIFA Code of Ethics and Fair Play.
This means that the 75th Blantyre Derby will be handled by Mayamiko Kanjere who Bullets are saying that he performed “poorly” to the dismay of the team’s officials and supporters during the opening fixture of the season against Dedza Dynamos.
