Some Blantyre residents are accusing city authorities of paying a deaf ear to their plea to fix Zingwangwa Bridge, which reportedly got damaged three years ago.
This is the critical bridge that connects Zingwangwa and Naperi in the commercial city.
According to the residents, there have been a prolonged delay to repair the bridge is putting lives, especially for school-going children, in danger when crossing Zingwangwa River.
Again, they claim the city officials have failed to attend to their cries despite repeated reminders.
Blantyre City Council spokesperson, Osman Mohamed acknowledges receiving a report on the damaged bridge.
“Currently, we have so many projects and they cannot be done at once. The bridge will be constructed this year,” she says
