Local employment agencies are planning to sue  twelve Malawians deported from Israel for alleged ruining of contracts after they left their respective work places and went to factories to look for another job to get improved pay.

Speaking in an interview with the Agencies managing director Justice Kangulu, confirmed that they are considering the legal action to secure the compensation because under the terms of their contracts those dispatched to Israel were supposed to repay funds used to pay for their visas and air tickets

“They entered into a contract which among others, require them to pay back for some costs, they remain liable until they have paid back” he said

He further said that they were supposed to deduct the repayment for a period of nine months, thereafter they would be free.

‘”Each worker was expected to repay around k8.5 million but some of them who deported did not pay anything and they changed their numbers after they left the farms” he said.

Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and Information and Digitisation are yet to disclose the names of the deportees.

The deportees were part of an Israeli government bid hatched last year to counter agricultural workers shortage after October’s deadly attacks on Israel by Hamas.
