Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) governors for the Nothern Region Ackim Mwanza and Kenneth Sanga have rejoined the party ahead of the 2025 polls.

The two defected to the newly Peoples Development Party (PDP) of Kondwani Nankhumwa.

The two were welcomed into DPP folds yesterday when the former President Peter Mutharika who is also leader of DPP was meeting the party’s Vice President for the North Jappie Mhango and Christopher Mzomera Ngwira at PAGE house in Mangochi.

The two promised to work with the new leadership in the North.

The opposition DPP is scheduled to hold its elective conference this coming July where Mutharika is scheduled to contest on the post of President.

Meanwhile, no one has come forward to challenge Mutharika ahead of the convention.
