One of the Insurance Companies in the country, Britam has donated MK3.5 million towards gala dinner organized by the Insurance Institute of Malawi (IIM) this coming Saturday in Blantyre.

The gala dinner will see students who are also employees of various Insurance Companies in the country receiving awards after successfully finishing their studies.

Speaking at the Cheque presentation Britam Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wales Meja said the company recognizes the crucial role IIM plays in promoting excellence and professionalism within the insurance industry hence the donation.

“As a firm believer in the importance of supporting institutions like IIM, we are thrilled to contribute to the ongoing success and development of the Insurance Institute of Malawi. The work that your institute does in promoting excellence and professionalism within the insurance industry is commendable.

“Your dedication to education, training, and advocacy plays a crucial role in advancing the standards and practices within our sector. We recognize the significance of investing in the future of the insurance industry, and we are proud to play a part in that investment through this contribution,” said Meja.

He added: “We hope that this cheque will assist in furthering your initiatives and programs, ultimately benefiting not only your members but also the broader community that relies on the services provided by the insurance sector.

“We look forward to seeing the continued growth and impact of the Insurance Institute of Malawi, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support your important work.”

On his part IIM Vice President Reuben Kawelele hailed Britam for the timely donation.

“As IIM we are very grateful to Britam for this timely donation as it will go a long way in the awarding of our graduating students during the gala dinner this coming Saturday. This will be done as one way of motivating them.

“We are also grateful to Britam for always being there for us. Honestly every event organized by IIM, Britam always contribute something,” said Kawelele.

The Insurance Institute of Malawi is the arm of the insurance industry in Malawi that deals with education and training. Its main objective is to promote professionalism in the insurance industry through education and training. The Institute started operating in 1978.
