Police in Mzimba district have arrested a 43-year-old traditional herbalist Memory Gondwe, on suspicion of entering the village of Symon Kumwenda in Mjinge where she was removing witchcraft.
Mzimba police spokesperson Peter Botha has confirmed the development and identified the herbalist as Memory Gondwe who hails from Rumphi district.
According to Botha, the herbalist entered in Kumwenda village and started pointing some villagers that they are witches and she wants to stop them from doing such malpractice.
The police said that this caused the concerned people to complain to the police since violence broke out in the village which put the safety of other people at risk.
The traditional healer is expected to answer the charge of removing witchcraft in the court of law which is against the law on witchcraft.
