Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale has today launched construction works for the K29.1 billion Dowa-Dambo Irrigation Scheme.
This is the eighth scheme which government is constructing under the Program for Rural Irrigation Development (Pride).
Speaking during the launch Kawale emphasized that the scheme is in two lots with 1 lot being constructed by Sawa and Sicko JV while lot 2 will be constructed by FISD.
He added that, Out of the schemes being constructed, Dowa-Dambo Irrigation Scheme is the first dam-based scheme which, when completed, will have a total of five dams to provide water to 453 hectares of farm land in the area of senior chief Chakhaza in the district.
