Police at Kasiya in Lilongwe are hunting for unknown thugs who killed one person and injured two others.
Kasiya Police Station publicist Constable Mercy Chitonde said the incident occurred on 31 May 2024 at Chite village within Kasiya.
According to Legio Kameroni who reported the incident to police, Chipiriro Master, 49 and two others left their home to Lilongwe on a motorcycle to withdraw some money.
They rode as far as Nsaru trading center where they left the motorcycle at Welos Garage and then proceeded to Lilongwe by bus.
They returned back to Nsaru at around 15:00 hours and asked Chipiliro Master to go back home together since their motorcycle had no front light.
Master rode his motorcycle with Malekano Samson as a passenger while Christopher Fanta rode his motorcycle with Legio Kameroni as a passenger.
Upon arrival at Chite four ways, Fanta and Kameroni noted that the light of Chipiliro’s motorcycle was no where to be seen.
At that moment he was suddenly hit by unknown object and failed to control the motorcycle.
The attackers robbed 2 Liffan motorcycles, 4 cellphones and cash amounting to K2,100,000.
Legio Kameroni managed to escape while shouting for assistance.
People around Chite village rushed to the scene and found the three victims badly assaulted.
They took them to Kabudula Community Hospital where Chipiliro died whilst receiving treatment.
The matter was reported to Kasiya Police and a postmortem conducted by medical personnel from Kabudula Community Hospital revealed that death was due to severe hemorrhage, secondary to severe head injury.
Meanwhile Malekano Samson and Christopher Fanta are still receiving treatment.
One motorcycle has been found dumped while covered with tree branches and leaves at a distance from the scene.
Chipiliro Master hailed from Chite Village in the area of Traditional Authority Kabudula in Lilongwe district.
