Cholera outbreak in Zambia has resurfaced after 11 people from Chipata tested positive to the disease.
On Saturday, Authorities have closed Market in Chipata for three days following an outbreak of cholera in the district.
The market is suspected to be an epicenter for the waterborne disease.
Chipata Town Clerk Aaron Kamalondo said the closure of the market has been done to facilitate general cleaning, disinfection, improvement of water supply and general sanitation at the market.
“All traders and general public are therefore advised to go to other markets for the days that the market will remain closed,” Mr Kamalondo said.
The outbreak comes barely months after the country came out of one of the most devastating outbreaks which led to over 700 deaths and 20,000 cases being recorded.
