The family of veteran broadcaster and actor Hope Chisanu has so far raised money amounting to MK2,608,654.68 out of the needed MK43, 319,275. 00 to repatriate the body of the actor from United States of America to Malawi.

Hope Chisanu, former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) employee died on Saturday in United States of America after a short illness.

According to records seen by this publication as indicated on gofundme site created by the family, money amounting to 1,507 United States Dollars has been raised since the campaign started.

Chisanu’s wife Vivian continues to appeal to well-wishers to rescue the family by helping them with the little they have to repatriate the body.

The actor is survived by a wife and two children.

Chisanu was well-known for his roles in local films such as “The Last Fishing Boat,” “Road to Sunrise,” and “All We Have Is Us,” as well as the Hollywood blockbuster “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.” He also had a long career with the state-owned MBC Radio and TV.
