The Malawi Prison Service has rescheduled promotional interviews to an unspecified date after some prison officers questioned the move.

In a leaked wireless communication in our possession, the interviews that were slated for this Friday, June 7, 2024, have been shifted indefinitely.

On Monday this week, the officers wondered why the prison Gaolers and sergeants were to be subjected to the interviews when over 800 police officers recently received mass promotions without the same.

A labour unionist, Robert Mkwezalamba, says if this remains indefinite, it would disadvantage others who were to benefit from the promotion.

However, the prison spokesperson, Senior Superintendent Chimwemwe Shaba, has maintained that the interviews will be conducted on dates to be communicated next week, adding that the changes are due to unforeseen administrative issues, as some officials have travelled abroad.
