The body of well-known legal practitioner, Raphael Kasambara has been laid to rest at home village in the area of Traditional Authority Timbiri in Nkhata-Bay.
The funeral ceremony was graced by former President Khumbo Hastings Kachale, Minister of Defence Harry Mkandawire, Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, Minister of Local Government Richard Chimwendo Banda, Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara and others.
In his speech Mkandawire who represented President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the funeral described Kasambara as a freedom fighter who, among others, defended people’s rights to hold demonstrations.
Mkandawire said the late Kasambara has done a lot for the country including mentoring young lawyers.
He further said President Chakwera allowed the Malawi Defence Force to accord military honours to the fallen former Minister of Justice.
Kasambara is survived by a wife and three Children.
