Former President of the United Democratic Front (UDF) Atupele Muluzi has called all Malawians to be united following the missing of the plane carrying the State Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima and nine others.

The aircraft was expected to land at Mzuzu International Airport around 10am today but it failed due to the bad weather.

Writing on his official facebook page Muluzi said: “Amidst the uncertainty surrounding the missing plane carrying our Vice President and fellow citizens, let’s unite in hope, strength, and solidarity. As we await updates on the search and rescue efforts, let our prayers be our beacon of hope.

“Our nation’s resilience in adversity is our greatest asset. Let’s support each other and trust in the search and rescue teams’ dedication for a swift resolution. Together, we’ll weather this storm and emerge stronger.

“Stay hopeful and united. Our thoughts are with the Vice President and all on board.”

Meanwhile, the search mission in Chikangawa forest has been suspended due to bad weather.

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is scheduled to address Malawians at 11pm tonight.
