Former attorney general and Minister of Justice in the Joyce Banda regime, Ralph Kasambara, will be moving to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), reports reveal.

Information sourced indicates that Kasambara who fell out of favour with President Banda after the shooting of Paul Mphwiyo and was arrested in connection to the same will be moving to the DPP.

A source within the party ranks was at pains to confirm or deny that Kasambara would be joining the party but just said that ‘in politics, anything can happen.’

Kasambara was once a close person to the DPP’s founding President, Bingu wa Mutharika, when he served as attorney general and legal advisor to the President who was an elder brother to the current DPP President, Peter Mutharika.

In the May elections, Kasambara will be contesting on an independent ticket in Nkhatabay West constituency in which DPP will also be fielding its candidate.

It is not known how the party will go about that puzzle if the rumours become true that Kasambara becomes one of their assets.
