The Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) has banned the use of use neutralizing shampoo and Anti Breakage hair chemical which is manufactured by Loreal Company in South Africa.
In press statement that Face of Malawi has seen signed by Executive Director for CFTC ,Lloyds Vincent Nkhoma, the ban comes after receiving an information that there is bacteria in those products.
According to the manufacturer, using single 50ml shampoo may lead to scalp infections in those with compromised immune systems. According to available information, the product, was produced in April 2023, in South Africa and is also exported to its neighbouring countries.
According to Nkhoma, CFTC has not yet conducted a survey to establish whether the recalled product is available on the Malawi market.
The Commission is however, urging consumers, distributors and the general public to stop the sale and use of the product.
“Those with stocks or in possession of the said products should return them to their suppliers and get a full refund”, reads the statement.
CFTC is also encouraging consumers who may have purchased the subject product, and have proof of purchase, to the board.
