Peoples’ Party (PP) is not ready to allow Steve Mijiga take over from its sitting Parliamentarian in the Blantyre rural east constituency, Henry Phoya, reports indicate.
Reports indicate that the party has allowed a re-run of the primary elections which saw the defeat of the Minister of lands, Henry Phoya, after he had lodged a complaint over the results when, in actual sense, it was him who had attempted to have the results rigged in his favour before being discovered
Last week, Phoya was declared winner of the primaries before the announcement was reversed after it was discovered that he had rigged the votes. The other announcement indicated that Phoya was on a distant third.
The party, however, settled for this week to have the elections re-run.
The primaries, this week, are not going without their own drama.
Recent information indicates that voting has already been suspended on the grounds that the first round winner, Steve Mijiga, was distributing maize flour to the voters.
