A 14-year-old girl in Mazabuka was allegedly defiled by a man while returning from buying cooking oil at a nearby shop.

The incident occurred on June 22, 2024, around 21:00 hours and was reported to the Mazabuka Police Station by the victim’s father.

According to Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, the victim had left home to clean goat intestines at a neighbor’s house. Later, she went with a friend to buy cooking oil at a named shop.

On her way back home, she separated from her friend and encountered the suspect.

The suspect forcibly pulled her into a nearby bush, covered her mouth, and sexually assaulted her.

The victim informed her parents about the ordeal when she returned home.

The police issued a Medical Report Form and opened a docket, but no arrest has been made yet.

The victim reportedly experienced pain in her private part.
