Judges in the capital Lilongwe have gone on an indefinite strike over the issue of fuel allowances the government owe them which stretch from December 2013 to this January of 2014, FaceofMalawi understands.

According to the information we have obtained, government has not paid fuel allowances for the men of the bench and they have, in turn, turned their backs against anybody seeking justice from them. The development has worried people especially over the Cashgate cases that had to be proceeding.

Whereas others who have all along thought that government will be forced to shield some of the suspects in the case have finally found a basis for their arguments, some have complained that the development will have to see their relations suffer in custody for long especially in issues where a bail cannot be granted by the police.

So far, there has been no response from the Ministry of Justice on the issue.
