Concerned lecturers and support staff at Mchinji Teachers Training College have sealed the principal’s office at the institution in protest against alleged unprofessional conduct.

Among other grievances, the angry members claim that there is ill-treatment of officers during sickness and funerals, poor interpersonal relationships, and a lack of transparency and accountability of public resources.

They say again that the principal, Dr. Bridget Matinga, is fond of using messengers, guards, and ground labourers to act in positions that require skills and use government resources for personal gains.

In a letter signed by about 54 lecturers and support staff, the concerned personnel want the government to remove the principal before Monday next week, failing which they will take unspecified action.

Ministry of education spokesperson, Mphatso Nkuwonera, confirmed receipt of the petition saying responsible officials have now instituted investigations into the matter.
