The Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) has admitted that it omitted maps which are used to answer a map reading question in this year’s Geography Paper 1 examination.
MANEB has since advised candidates sitting for this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) exams to skip the map reading question.
Maneb spokesperson, Angella Kashitigu has confirmed this, saying the problem has been encountered in all examination centres.
Kashitigu adds that assessment will exclude the skipped question.
“This is an anomaly and we can respond later about it but we have advised all examination centres to skip the question,” she says.
Sources say map reading question carries a total of 35 marks.
Meanwhile, it is not yet known as to whether the marks will be given for free to candidates or not.
