Police in Limbe have arrested a 34-year-old woman for allegedly pushing her 16-year-old stepdaughter into prostitution.
Limbe police publicist, Sergeant Aubrey Singanyama, said that the suspect allegedly forced the minor to engage in sexual activities with a man only identified as Mr. Mtira.
Police say the woman has been collecting payment for each encounter.
It is said that the victim’s father reported the incident to Limbe Police after discovering the issue, and the girl was referred to the One Stop Centre at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Limbe Police have since launched investigations to arrest Mr. Mtira, who is currently at large, and once caught, he will face the charge of having sexual intercourse with a minor.
