Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President Freetwood Haiya has congratulated Mtopwa Football Club owner Isaac Jomo Osman for being elected as Deputy Mayor for Blantyre City.

Osman from Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) outclassed United Transformation Movement (UTM) Councillor with 11 votes against 10.

Writing on his official facebook page Haiya said his election into the office signifies Cllr Osman’s resolute spirit and humanity.

“A big shout to Councillor Isaac Jomo Osman on his election as Deputy Mayor for Blantyre city.

“His election into the office signifies Cllr Osman’s resolute spirit and humanity,” said Haiya.

He added: “Cllr Osman is the driving force behind Mtopwa Football Club and he is arguably a true pioneer of women’s football in our nation.

“Wishing you all the success in your new role Mina Jomo.”

Meanwhile, Former Deputy Mayor Joseph Makwinja been elected as Mayor of the city replacing Wild Ndipo.
