Police in Mchinji have arrested two men, Symon Luka, 37, and Msadalire Phiri, 23, for allegedly attempting to traffick nine people to Zambia.
Police spokesperson for the district, Limbani Mpinganjira, confirmed this by stating that the two men had promised the victims jobs on a farm in Vubwi, Zambia.
Mpinganjira added that the police were alerted to the situation and arrested the two men at Kamwendo while they were en route to the supposed job location.
According to Mpinganjira, the nine victims who were being trafficked are currently under police care and the suspects are expected to appear in court.
