Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) councilor for Thekerani Ward Petro Charles Bowman has been elected as Thyolo District Council Chairperson.
In the all DPP elections affair, 12 councilors in the district enormously endorsed Bowman.The chairperson has pledged to boost the council’s revenue base.
But on the vice chairperson, three councillors Somanje Sayenda, Jones Malata and Mclisher Yamaha Zuze tustled and Sayenda emerged victorious after getting six votes against three each for the rest.
Thyolo district commissioner Hudson Kuphanga says the council expects the new leadership to sustain development gains as the district emerged position one on projects implementation under the Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD).
