A 37-year-old man has been arrested in Nkhotakota for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl.
Nkhotakota police publicist Paul Mwalimwe has confirmed the development saying the man, Sudan Mkwanda committed the offence on July 29 2024, after he allegedly tried to coax the girl by giving her K500.
“The girl refused the offer and the suspect forced her to undress and then slept with her. Mkwanda was caught red-handed by people who were passing by,” explained Mwalimwe.
Police arrested Mkwanda yesterday and has been charged with defilement, which is contrary to Section 138 Sub Section 1 of the Penal Code.
Mkwanda hails from Maganga village T/A Mndindi in Salima district and is expected to be taken to court soon.
