A police officer identified as Vincent M’dala has died at Kumuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe where he was receiving treatment after being attacked by unknown thugs.
M’dala was attacked by unknown thieves while on his way from his home village, Foso, on Friday.
Deputy National Police spokesperson, Harry Namwaza has confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.
“When he reached at a certain bridge, he met thugs who brutalized him; they stole his motorcycle, phone and a bag of maize,” he said.
He was then rushed to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment yesterday.
Meanwhile, the law enforcers have launched a manhunt.
