United Transformation Movement (UTM) Dr Miachel Usi, who is also the vice president of Malawi, has addressed the accusation that the Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukule, who has recently joining Malawi Congress Party (MCP) was not a member of UTM.
Speaking at the party’s rally in Balaka, Usi clarified that Kamtukule was indeed a dedicated member of the party.
Last week, UTM Secretary General Patricia Kaliati claimed that Kamtukule was not a UTM member after joining MCP.
“As UTM we are not worried with Kamtukule’s move to join MCP because she was never one of the UTM members. Kamtukule contested in her constituency on an independent ticket,” said Kaliati.
Meanwhile, Usi has criticized the practice of pursuing political positions within parties and the government. Usi stated that he cannot force leadership roles upon people, as leadership positions are given by God.
